Another Blogaslovenia!

Yesterday, August 26th, at 10:24pm Lindy gave birth to our second daughter, Austria Jaye Salmon.

Austria weighed in at just 5 pounds and 15 ounces and thus will compete in the feather weight boxing division like her older sister, Anya, did for the first few months of her life. (Okay, she still does...)

Austria has already donned her boxing gloves and can't wait to duke it out with her sister!...


Although their birth heights are almost identical (18.5 inches versus 18.75 inches for Anya), Anya had a slight strength advantage due to her higher birth weight. But Austria compensates with her speed. She popped out in a flash and was all ready to rumble!

Anya is small but looks like a giant compared to Austria! Anya the Giant could easily hold her baby sister in a lap no longer than a toothpick, which is about accurate...

Austria loves to sleep (at least lately) which is a new thing for us. But she still lets us take a look at her beautiful eyes from time to time.


With all the surprises of the day, we were also surprised to find out that Austria will have a long way to go to catch up to Anya in the hair department. She is starting off with one tenth as much!

Anya at the Olympics

In Beijing, Anya competed in a number of Olympic events. We have some pictures and video from the first week of competition...

I gave her nine gold medals for being cute... For some reason, this one sport awards that many...

Darth Anya in White

It looks like a lot of people think we will be having a boy. I also think it is a boy but who knows... The OB/GYN made us turn our heads last time I was there, so unless Lindy peaked, we really don't know. Lindy seems to think this one is more aggressive than Anya but that's the only thing I'm basing my gender guess on. However, we do love the Russian names... (maybe someone has already guessed it....)

We decided to award our blog readers with a chance to win a prize of our choosing for correctly guessing the gender, day, time, weight and length of our second child.

Here are the rules: You must submit your guess via a blog comment (or an email to one of us) at least 24 hours before Lindy goes into labor. Any guess submitted after that will be considered void. A perfect guess is worth 100 points. The breakdown is as follows:

Correctly guessing the...
gender - 10 points
date - 20 points
time of day - 30 points
weight - 20 points
length - 20 points
and...
the name - bonus of 30 points

(Partial points will be awarded for how close your guess is to the actual data. For example, if you are one day off you could still receive 18 points for that category.)

More information which may or may not be helpful: Anya was 6 pounds 11 ounces, 18.75 inches long, and born 5:05am on her exact due date, December 22nd (as was calculated by Lindy). (The doctor calculated Anya to arrive on the 18th of December).

Our second child is due on August 23rd, as calculated by Lindy, and on the 24th by the doctor.
