Ink War

Someone left a pen in their pocket. Someone else didn't check pockets before washing. That same someone didn't even look at the wash before throwing it in the dryer. Again, that same someone, was blazing mad when she took out ELEVEN dresses belonging to two little girls, to find each one covered in blue ink spots. Since that day, she has been battling the ink, being successful on some items and not on others. Many methods have been tried, but she is hoping someone out there will have something she hasn't tried yet.

Tested

Today Anya wanted an exception to the TV limit. It made her so mad that I wouldn't give in, that she wanted to ship me off to "another city" as she said. She wanted her Dad to come home and me to leave immediately (which is fine with me :). She said: "That's the reason I sometimes cough a little, I'm sick of you!" I started laughing and Austria said very seriously, "That's not funny Mommy!"

Father's Day

This year for Father's Day we thought it was finally time to get a gift John liked. The girls saved up their money from the jobs they have been working now that they don't watch 32 hours of TV a week.

Random Comments

Me: "Are we best buddies every day?"

Anya: "Yes, even on Father's Day!"

Anya: "How can I stop growing up? I don't want to have any more birthday parties, I want to be a kid forever! I don't want to grow-up, adults don't do anything fun, all they do is talk!"

TVAA

One day not long ago I realized two little girls were becoming average in an area they shouldn't be. I blamed it on a five month period where someone was trying as hard as possible to stay on the couch and not puke.

The average 2-5 year old is spending 32 hours a week in front of the TV!!! John and I decided our girls should get jobs and help pay the rent instead of watch that much TV. Okay, not really, but we do have some new rules regarding TV time. I didn't think it would be difficult to cut down the TV time significantly, but I was wrong, it had a hold on us--all of us! So we had to join TVAA--TV Addicts Anonymous. We are no longer in denial, we admit we have a problem and we have taken some of the necessary steps to break this habit.

We are almost through the withdrawal stage. Dinner prep, laundry, and house-cleaning take much longer and showers are shorter. But we are getting more things like this happening:

We hope the birth of child #3 doesn't cause us to fall off the wagon! It will be a true test of coming clean . . .

Absence Makes the Heart Grow . . . Furious?

You know someone might have been working on his proposal for his dissertation a lot while holding a full-time job when his 4 year old has a breakdown and asks if she can skype with him because she thinks he won't be home until after she is in bed . . .

Aging?

I was driving to the grocery store listening to the radio (Anya wasn't with me, so I didn't interrupt her thinking time) and felt proud I knew all the songs, especially since I was listening to a pop station. Then as I arrived at my destination, the radio DJ announced they'd be right back with more songs for the special 90's weekend they were doing.
