What will replace our balloon!?

Our Disney World balloon is still holding strong. But it now just floats at "little girl eye level."

We'll have to replace it with some new toys once it's deflated.

But perhaps some cell phones will be a good replacement.

They could call daddy at work....

... put the phone up to their ear....

... chat for awhile...

... and then finish it up with some texting...

Salmon Winter Olympics

We got more snow than Vancouver this last week:

It came just in time for our own Salmon Family Winter Olympics. The first event was the "speed dressing." Little girls were fighting to get outside and they didn't care what they were wearing. Lindy took the gold medal for keeping their excitement under control while they bundled up in half of their wardrobe.

The fashion at the opening ceremonies was expectedly a little interesting with the speed dressing event coinciding with the parade of nations.

Anya competed in the snowball fight, the-stay-on-your-feet-on-a-frozen-board-walk, and the snowman building events. She placed in all events except the snowball fight. (How can anyone make snowballs in those kids mittens that aren't even pliable?)

Yesterday, we were watching the Olympics and one of the commentator says, "The Austrian ski jump team is having a rough day..."

Just then, Anya, who was playing nearby with some toys, turns to the TV and says pointing to her sister, "Austria? Austria's right here!" :)

Groundhog Day

When you live in Georgia, you expect the Winter to be short. At least we do, maybe we have just been here long enough that we are desensitized. We expect Winter to be about 2 weeks long, and we get a little offended if the high isn't in the 50's. Looks like it is time to move further south . . .

Today we were saddened to hear that Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow. However, we have our own predictions about when Spring will come based on two little girls. Anya and Austria have been waking up unusually early. Way too early to see their shadows, unless you count the ones cast by the night-light. They are begging to go to the park. Surely that means Spring is right around the corner.

Here are own little Georgia Peaches playing one of their favorite Winter games--pretending to sleep. We are hoping with all of this practice, it will turn into real sleep.
