Poor Olympia. Before her birth strangers were convinced she was a boy, and then after she was here, some were still confused . . .
Me: "I don't know, we aren't finding out until the birth."
Publix cashier: "You aren't swollen in your face, so it's a boy."
Me: "Oh really?"
Publix cashier: "Yes, if you are having a girl, you would be swollen, especially around your lips."
Me thinking: But you have never seen me in your life . . . how do you know if I'm swollen or not?
Neighbor: "Do you know what your having?"
Me: "No, we are waiting until the baby is born to find out."
Neighbor: "It's a boy. You are carrying low and round like a basketball. If it was a girl, you'd be carrying higher and more oval."
While I was out walking with Olympia in a sling, a neighbor asked: "Is that a dog or a baby in there?" My thoughts: Seriously? I thought the point of walking a dog, was that the dog actually walked . . . but hey, I remember seeing two dogs in a stroller at the Grand Canyon, so this woman is asking a valid question.
Now to indulge the grandparents, some pictures:
