We've noticed that quite a few people seem to start a blog summary of their trip on the appropriate "Day 1" of their vacation but quickly don't make it passed "Day 3" (= Cairo) when there are 27 more days to follow. On the other extreme, some take four or five months of blog posts to cover a few days and miss everything interesting during that time.

We will try to avoid those various travelogue styles and jump right to the unusual facts, observations and stories we really care to see and read about, since one can only read so many posts about beaches, great food and the perfect weather which surprisingly describe a lot of our time in Jamaica...

The theme for this post is the Resort Jerk. Every resort has a jerk. You know: the smelly cigar smoking man in a speedo, the complaining sun bathing lady who yells at anything that approaches her "bronzing arena", or the fake limping hustler always asking for money while mixing up his sob stories each day...
Our "Resort Jerk" was a small German boy about 5 years old. "Get away, kid!" He wouldn't leave us alone. If he were a bug, I would have squished him. He would always get in the way and jump right between Anya and me in the kiddy pool. He just couldn't get it that it was dangerous to be blocking my way if Anya fell in. What a jerk. I wanted to pop his little bright orange water wings. "Not so tough without your water wings are ya?!" Anya would always be cautiously trying to get away from him and give him dirty looks which I thought even he could understand (despite the language barrier). "I know she's cute, but you're five times her age. Go away! You're not impressing her father!" After Anya starts getting cold, the resort jerk turns to the fountains and sprays us as we are trying to dry off and warm up. What a jerk. The next day we tried to avoid him but sure enough he found us (like all resort jerks) and with that scheming little smirk bothered us until we packed up and left. We never saw his parents. They were never around. I don't blame them. We did see him later at meal time with the babysitters and he was throwing food all over... What a jerk. I know it's bad to say, but I was hoping his sun block was NOT going to work that day...

Happy Birthday, Alita!
