This wasn't just a "little major"... This was a "major-major" one. KJ will know what I mean.A few days after New Years and within a two hour period the entire Salmon family was vomiting into the toilet... Well, that's not entirely true. Anya didn't quite make it and let yet another shirt have it. Lindy and I did make it to the bathroom. Boy oh boy. What a bad day. I haven't spewed in about five years and I was a little worried that I would forget how... But my body seemed to remind me rather quickly...
Anyway, we didn't write this post about our trip immediately because it would have been too negative. We had to let some of the bad memories fade. And there were definitely enough to give them time to fade. First of all, every single one of our flights was delayed. (I guess that is okay if you are healthy and don't have a baby, but we weren't and we do.) On average, the six flights we were on were all delayed by 1.5 hours. Ouch. (And that's on average!). Looks like I found my topic for my PhD dissertation...
Other bad things? Well, I don't want to list them all but here are a few. No snow in Utah and so we couldn't go skiing as much. The chef burned my birthday steak. Anya was sick on her birthday. Extra car rental expenses (since we were late). Arrived sick. Departed sicker. Sickest in Atlanta. Ear infections. Coughs. Congestion. Fevers for each of us. Sleepless nights. Nasty hotel food. And, of course, the pool was closed for renovations the very day we were there.
Still, despite all the less than perfect things that occurred, it could have been worse. (Although we didn't think so until much later...) Our trip's saving grace was seeing both sides of our family, most of our cousins, all of Anya's Grandparents, and celebrating Christmas and New Years with everyone! Thanks for all the wonderful gifts and all the sacrifice (financial and otherwise) you made to have a bunch of sickies around for a couple of weeks! We love you and truly do look forward to future trips!
